PeerVantage
🔒 Data and security

Your data. Locked, logged, and always yours.

PeerVantage compares your performance with the industry without ever exposing your numbers. This page explains exactly how, in plain English.

How benchmarking works without exposing anyone

Your day to day records live in your own space on PeerVantage. This is what happens when a benchmark is built from them: what leaves your box, what the vault in the middle will and will not do, and what comes back.

  • your own figures, in full
  • an anonymised total
  • the industry's range

The steps run in a loop. Point at one to hold it there, or press it to pin it while you read.

Each organisation sits in its own locked box, and the walls inside one organisation share their figures with each other in full detail. Every box sends only anonymised totals into a central vault, which stays shut until at least five independent organisations have contributed. Once five have, the vault sends back the industry's range rather than any single organisation's figure, and below five it shows nothing at all.

This is all a benchmark ever shows you

A low end, a high end, a typical wall, and your own figure against them. No PeerVantage screen shows you another organisation's figures, and none of them names who is in your cohort. Your own sites are left out of the range you are reading, so you are never quietly comparing yourself with yourself.

Straight answers

Ask us the awkward questions. Here are the honest answers.

Can PeerVantage staff see our data?

Not without you knowing. Support access is switched off by default. You can grant it for a fixed period when you want help, revoke it at any time, and every access is recorded in a log you can see inside your own settings. Day to day, our team has no standing access to production data, by design.

Our numbers feed the benchmarks. Could anyone work ours out?

No. Benchmarks are anonymised aggregates with at least five independent organisations behind every figure. No single organisation is ever more than half of a benchmark, and your own sites are excluded from any benchmark you view. Below the threshold, the page simply says there is not enough data yet.

Where is our data stored?

In the United Kingdom. The PeerVantage database runs in a UK data centre, the application runs on European infrastructure, and encrypted backups are held separately in the UK and EU.

Is it encrypted?

Yes, in transit and at rest. And an honest note: encryption alone is not what protects you from a nosy vendor. Access controls and visible logging are. That is why this page talks mostly about who can get in, when, and how you would know.

Who else touches our data?

A short list of carefully chosen providers for hosting, payments and email, each named on our sub-processor list along with where they hold data. We never sell data and we never run advertising.

What happens if we leave?

Your data is yours. Export it at any time. When you leave, we delete it on a published schedule.

"I own a climbing wall too. PeerVantage is built the way I would demand it as a customer: my own team cannot quietly look at your data, and the same anonymity rules that protect every wall from every other wall protect you from us."

Checked by people who are not us

Registered with the ICO

Peer Vantage Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator. Our registration number will be published here.

Cyber Essentials

The UK government's security standard. We volunteered for it, so the way we run things is checked by somebody outside PeerVantage rather than only by us.

Cyber Essentials certification markView our certificate

Independent legal review

Our customer agreements and data protection documents are prepared under UK GDPR and independently reviewed by a UK solicitor.

Written into the contract

The five-organisation benchmarking rule is not a marketing promise. It is written into our data processing agreement, so it binds us legally.

Insured for cyber incidents

Peer Vantage Ltd carries its own cyber liability insurance, underwritten by AIG and renewed each year alongside our Cyber Essentials certification. That is cover for us as a business, not cover for your centre, and it does not replace your own insurance.

PeerVantage is in development and launches on 31 August 2026. Everything on this page describes the standard we are launching with. We take data seriously enough to publish the standard before we ask anyone to sign up.
